This gentle circular evening walk offers a poetic glimpse into Andros’ southwestern countryside, bathed in the warm glow of the setting sun. Starting and ending in Korthi Bay, this route takes you through fertile plains, past horse farms and orchards, to the medieval village of Aidonia, with a visit to the remarkable Byzantine church of Agios Nikolaos, crowned by a rooftop cypress.

We gather at Korthi Bay in the late afternoon, setting out through the peaceful kampos—a green lowland shaped by seasonal rivers, gardens, and livestock farms. As the light softens, the sounds of evening take over: birdsong, rustling olive trees, the occasional horse neighing in the paddocks.

Our trail ascends toward Korthi village, where we visit the Byzantine church of Agios Nikolaos, famous for the cypress tree growing from its roof—a local marvel that blends architecture and nature 

Continuing upward, we pass through pastoral slopes and olive groves at Moussionas village, arriving at Aidonia, a rustic mountain village nestled on the skirts of Rachi Ridge. Known for its lush vegetation, historic dovecotes, and stone-spring fountains, Aidonia is a rare gem, offering a glimpse into traditional Andros life .

In Aidonia you can enjoy a break—with a homemade fresh lemonade while soaking in the tower houses, watermill ruins, and cool stone springs nestled among vines and cypresses.

The path then winds gently back to Korthi Bay, closing the loop with views of the sea and sunset light on the whitewashed village.
