Due to safety concerns and issues with the crag, we are currently not offering the rappel activity. We hope to resume it in the future once conditions are improved.

The tour can also be enjoyed without the rappel descent, while still offering a perfect blend of hiking, exploration, snorkeling, and swimming.

Thank you for your understanding.

Hike the Ancient Trails of Andros & Snorkel at a Submerged Port

From Mountain Paths to Mythic Waters

Looking for a truly active holiday in Andros? This full-day hiking and snorkeling experience blends adventure, history, and stunning Aegean landscapes—ideal for those who love walking off the beaten path.

Starting either from the traditional mountain village of Ano Pitrofos or the lively seaside town of Batsi, this route follows a section of the old Venetian trail that once connected the island’s east and west. You’ll hike along a beautifully preserved cobbled path, climbing gradually through terraced hillsides toward the high slopes of Kouvara, with breathtaking views over the Aegean Sea and the coastline of western Andros.

As the trail descends into the lush gorge of Palaiopolis, you’ll reach the hidden waterfalls, nestled in dense greenery—one of the island’s most dramatic natural sights. Here, for those who are up for it, a bit of light abseiling (rappelling) offers an adventurous way to reach the lower part of the valley, but the focus remains on the trail’s beauty and cultural richness.

You’ll then continue your walk through the archaeological site of ancient Palaiopolis, the island’s former capital. With insights from your guide, you’ll uncover stories of this once-glorious city as you move toward the coast.

The day ends at the sea, where you’ll have the chance to snorkel in the crystal-clear waters of the submerged ancient port. Swim above age-old ruins and stone structures now resting beneath the surface—a unique finale to your hiking journey.

Just perfect to discover the beautiful Island of Andros
a great experience! Moreover the walk, you discover the local way of life, the history of the island and also all the varieties of plants and wildlife.
