You can’t beat the elegant, classic, and timeless beauty of a piece of marble.
The tour drives you to the north of Tinos. directly to the village of Pyrgos, with a visit to the house and museum of the most famous Tinian artist Giannoulis Chalepas. Your guide will introduce you to his world and the great history of the marble for the island. Immediately afterward a walk through the alleys of the authentic village, wandering the narrow streets and passing by the marble workshops where, every day, the sculptors work and make their art pieces.
Our walk continues towards the “artistic” cemetery of the village where dozens of sculptures of monuments of famous artists are adorned and immediately after a visit to the Marble Museum where you will get all the technical information you need to understand in depth the importance of this material for the Tinians. Before you get to the car, you can relax with a Greek coffee and a “galaktoboureko” under the century-old plane tree shade, in the heart of the village square.
Follow your guide to the next stop and settlement of Ysternia, with the magnificent marble decorations. A short walk around the village, a visit to the Museum of Tinian Artists, and a few more stories about the local marble workers. Before the way back, another stop will take place, this time the white jewel of the western coastline, literally hanging from the rocks, is a must. Alleys, small arcades and arches, fountains, and magnificent churches are some of the sights in Κardiani!
