Livada Farm is one of Andros’s quiet treasures — a working organic farm run on permaculture principles, where the soil is cared for as carefully as the crops that grow in it. One of the most genuinely local things to do in Andros, this farm experience connects you directly with the people and practices behind the island’s food culture.
Guided by Alex, we wander through no-till beds of vegetables, herbs and companion flowers, learning how permaculture supports biodiversity and healthy soil. Alex talks about the relationship between land and table, and about why growing food the slow way is also growing it the right way.
Depending on the season, we pick tomatoes, courgettes, greens, herbs or fruit, then gather under the old olive tree for a farm picnic of fresh harvest, local cheese, and herb-infused lemonade. A grounded, flavour-rich glimpse into green Andros and the rhythms of the land.
