Day 3: From the highest mountain to the sea
Today you will get a transfer to Arni Village where you will start your hiking day. One of the most beautiful routes of the network because of its diversity and the continuous landscape change. The village is built on a smooth slope at an altitude of 500 meters. The area is one of the most forested on the island with rich vegetation and running waters. The trail crosses three consecutive hills in absolute beauty scenery and descends towards “Katakoilos” where the river passes through the scattered settlement. After a short rest and a light picnic at the shady square of the village, the route continues to Batsi. With a beautiful view of the sea and to Batsi bay, a well-preserved narrow trail with the typical dry stone walls leads you to the town. Evening Free
Distance 11km (Arni – Batsi) Walking time around 3, 5 hrs walking
Day 4: To the capital city : Andros Town
Today we drive to the east for visiting the capital city and the surroundings. First, we will start with a short hike and walk across the riverbed, visit the old castle-house “Mouvela”, the Leontos stone bridge, the Ebeirikos watermill, a traditional olive press, quite a few impressive old mansions and finally reach one of the island’s most important wetlands. Picnic on the route.
At the end of our walking tour, we will have the opportunity to visit the historical center and the museums of the town. Possible early dinner before returning back to Batsi.
Distance 6 km, walking time around 2 hrs.
Day 5: Unspoiled Beaches
Today we drive to the mountainous village of Remata where our hiking adventure will start. The location is one of the greenest on the island with rich vegetation, running water from the river of Arni. In the green stream, you will meet old farmhouses, stoned grape mills, threshing floors. The scenery changes and gets wild and dry, as you descend the trail towards the beautiful unspoiled beach of Lefka. Time to rest, swim and have a light picnic. We continue our hike towards the north coastline, walking on an impressive strange rocky terrain “embroidered¨ by the saltiness and the north wind to end at Ateni Beach with a fresh swim and rest at the beach! You will get a drive back to Batsi and your evening is free.
Distance 12 km (Remata – Lefka Beach – Ateni) walking time around 4hrs.
Day 6: From Central to West
Today, first we visit the Olive Oil Museum at Ano Pitrofos. From there we will start our amazing walking adventure via the old Venetian trail which connects the east to the northwest. The route crosses steep mountain slopes with holy oak, wild olives, and seasonal crops. It passes springs, stone water tanks, old farmhouses, unusual rock formations, and two waterfalls, flowing down the steep hills of Kouvara, impressively appearing through the dense plantation of Paleopolis.
