A pleasant walk circular to the castle

This exciting hiking tour starts and ends in the Loutra village. A fascinating circuit circling the castle of Exobourgo and stopping at three Catholic villages in the heart of Tinos. We begin by passing by the Ursulines Monastery, which was once home to a well-known girls’ boarding school in Europe. Today, it’s a museum open only in the summer that features an interesting folklife exhibition.

We continue the walk to the village of Skalados and then we climb up, gradually, to the bottom of the granite rock, to visit the village of Koumaros, one of the most picturesque in the area.

Next destination the Exobourgo Hill. While there, we will explore the Venetian castle’s ruins and take in the mountaintop vista.

After that, the route descends, through the excellent downhill ancient paved trail will drive us to the village of “Xynara,” the site of the Catholic Archdiocese’s siege during the Venetian era.

From there, and in a few moments, we arrive back where we started at the village of Loutra.
