7-DAY SELF-GUIDED WALKING HOLIDAYS

A 3-centre based Trekking Experience

EXPERIENCE A UNIQUE WALKING HOLIDAY ON YOUR OWN PACE AND EXPLORE THE HIKING NETWORK OF TINOS ISLAND

Walk from village to village and let us take care of the rest! We transfer your luggage to the next destination,  and equip you with accurate maps alongside with a detailed “Walker’s Pack” with all the necessary information for the ideal self-guided walking holiday. We meet you at the port before your journey starts and we provide you all the necessary documents.

These hiking routes include cobble or gravel trails, dirt or cement, ranging from mild to rough rocky terrains, which frequently take you through streams or dense vegetation.

This self-guided trekking program is carefully designed to provide you with a variation of landscape combined with the pleasure of getting an insight in the long history, culture and culinary tradition of Tinos. Three different location to overnight as you hike along the network, from south to north.

Day by Day

Day 1 : Arrival Day

Arrival on Tinos. Meet at the port with one of our team and get a transfer to your accommodation.

Presentation off the island and the trails. Talk about the program. Receipt “Walker’s pack”

Overnight in Tinos Town or Ag. Fokas

Day 2 : Villages in the Clouds

The route takes you inland from the coastal Tinos Town to the mountain Village of Falatados. A fine introduction to the small-scale charms of Tinos, as you climb above the town to look over a sweep of coast and islands to a hinterland thick with silvered olives, glossy green fruit and dark cypress trees.

Overnight in Falatados.

Distance 10 km, walking time around 4-4,5 hrs.

Day 3 : Around Mt. Exombourgo

Have a good breakfast and get prepared for a demanding walking day. The granite Rock of Exombourgo, former stronghold of the Venetian occupiers, dominates the landscape as you wind and dip in and out of the secret deep-cut valleys, and roll over wide-viewed hills. It’s a walk through Tinos history, for on the surrounding foothills were some of the island’s earliest settlements.

Distance: 15 km, walking time around 5,30-6 hrs.

Day 4: Via a Giant’s Rock garden

A day of wonderful contrasts, between the severe beauties of a barren but dramatic landscape, to the most luxuriant of valleys. You’re heading mainly downhill and northwest through the Catholic heartland of the “Kato Meri” middle region of the island. Down a steep traditional path to the picturesque village of Volax, set among hills scattered with giant granite boulders and on to the Village of Agapi. Today’s Route finishes with a Transfer to the Village of Pirgos in the North.

Overnight Pyrgos

Distance 10 km , walking time around 4,5 – 5 hours

Day 5 : Marble country of the North

From high in the marble mountains, descend from the arty sculpture center of Pirgos to an oasis of peace and the dream coastline of Ormos Panormou. Abandoned terraces, ruined windmills and empty farm buildings are poignant relics of the once thriving wheat cultivation. The return to Pirgos follows a once-important working path up a valley with fantastically sculpted rocks, and above green ravines where shocks of oleander grow. Today we transfer you back to Tinos

Overnight Tinos Town

Distance 10 km , walking time around 4,5 hours.

Day 6 : Walking through History

Follow in the steps of farmers and tradespeople along an ancient road that linked the island’s interior villages to the port. Visit the villages of Ktikados, Chatirados, Tarabados and Kampos the heart of folk architecture and pigeon towers. Then come back to Ktikados again to follow the route of the Sacred Way that led to the Temple of Poseidon. You’re on the lookout for remnants of 5th C BC and medieval fortifications, rest at a Byzantine travelers’ ‘inn’, and visit a beautiful bay that was a bustling harbor in Classical times. A swim, at the once medieval harbor, crowns the day and then back to town.

Overnight Tinos Town

Distance 13 km , walking time around 4,5 hours

Day 7 : Departure

Depending on your departure time you will have a transfer to the port. You can extend your holiday in Tinos or Andros or why not with an Athens City Break

If I Could Give Six Stars, I Would!
If you are interested in a hiking and cultural/culinary experience, this was truly one of the best I have every experienced anywhere in the world.
